The biggest event of the year in Houston is the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Riders compete in traditional rodeo events, while national and international superstar musical entertainers perform nightly. The Houston Rodeo is also home to the World's Championship Bar-B-Que Contest. |

Komen Houston Race for the Cure |

Included in the race is a Family Walk and Kids K, a 5K Timed Competitive Run, a 5K Non-Competitive Run and a 5K Walk. A finish line celebration will be held at Sam Houston Park after the Race for all participants and their families. The Komen Houston Race for the Cure raises money each year to fund national research through the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Award and Research Grant Program for breast cancer research. |

Postman Jefferson Davis McKissack slowly built his pin-wheel-flying folk art amphitheater in his south Houston neighborhood from 1956 to 1979. The Orange Show stages the yearly Art Car Parade, brings in more than 5,000 school kids for inventive hands-on creating. The O Show's adult evenings are wacky combinations of music, crazy movies and other indescribable madcaps under the night skies. Such wonderful weirdness is hard to find. |
